Shannon Norwood

Director of Compliance

Shannon Norwood Jones is the Director of Compliance at SFWG, where she oversees student eligibility for the National School Lunch Program across charter schools nationwide. As the company’s very first hire over a decade ago, Shannon has been instrumental in building lasting relationships with schools in every state and ensuring compliance at the highest level.

What Shannon loves most about her work is being part of a team that helps schools strengthen their meal programs and better serve students. One of her favorite school food memories takes her back to elementary school, when her family usually packed lunches — except for one special day each year: the Thanksgiving meal. Turkey, rice and gravy, mashed potatoes, and a honey butter roll made it the most anticipated lunch of the year. Even now, seeing photos of that same cafeteria brings back the sights and smells of those moments that first connected her to the world of school food.

A Baton Rouge native, Shannon earned her degree in English Literature from Louisiana State University and continues to be an avid LSU sports fan. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the city’s culinary scene, attending local food festivals, and experimenting with new recipes at home.

Favorite School Lunch Memory: Taking the first bite of her Thanksgiving meal in elementary school!
